Sources of gender wage gaps for skilled workers in Latin American countries

This paper identifies the impact of taste-based discrimination on labor market outcomes for nine Latin American countries. We use homogenized survey data skilled workers to estimate a search and matching model with explicit prejudice against women, participation decisions, occupational choices. By gradually eliminating all potential sources gender gaps, we find that is only source consistently impacts plays significant role in explaining wage gaps at bottom distribution. Additionally, has strong negative effects respect participation, employment/unemployment, self-employment rates.
